Up early in the morning and driving along the SB coastline, headed for the zoo.
The Santa Barbara zoo is the perfect size for us. Charlie, being almost 3 with a short attention span and me, 30 weeks along and slow as a tortoise.
It's beautiful nonetheless.
The funny part is that Charlie's favorite part of the zoo had nothing to do with animals and everything to do with this big hill and cardboard slides.
When he ran to the top of the hill, he would do this little song & dance. As if he were on stage.
Next, a drive up to watch hang gliders launch off a hill overlooking Arroyo Beach. This is one of my favorite things to do in Santa Barbara.
It feels like you're on top of the world . . .
. . . or close to nap time, if you're almost 3 years old.
Back to our lovely hotel where Charlie literally vegged on the bed, staring out the window.
I did the same thing.
Our night ended with a (mostly) quiet sunset dinner at the Four Seasons' restaurant. Overlooking the Pacific with a fire pit just feet away from our table. Charlie was a saint while we ate our dinner . . . he must've been happy with the trip overall.
Actually, I know he was happy with the trip. Friday night, after we came in from our stroll around the harbor, he looked up at me and said "that was so fun, Mama".
Totally worth it.
