Happy Halloweenie!

I'm sure you're asking yourself "really? 3 Halloween related posts?" Yes, it's just how it's working out this year.

So bear with me.

My little Buzz Lightyear (or "Bud Light" as he refers to himself) ready to trick or treat.

Rolling around on the grass, potentially destroying the inflatable jet pack that I was a sucker to buy when I was *this close* to checking out on Costume Express.

Preparing to head out with Rich and the Morad family (aka his neighborhood gang) for the night. They are the cast of Toy Story!

A quick outtake of the kiddos photo. Our little alien toppled over but her Pops caught her, no worries. It's hard to get 3 kids all set in photos. It'll be interesting next year when I add the 4th child to this bunch.

Running toward me as I beg him to stand still for a photo. Typical. My in-flight Buzz!

Halloween 2011

I'm staying behind this year to hand out candy. Me, my giant belly, a ratty t-shirt & sweatpants . . . I bet I will scare the trick or treaters. At least Rich overbought on candy by approximately 400% so I can hand out copious amounts of sugar to compensate.

the Great Pumpkin

The Morad family let Charlie hitch a ride along to the pumpkin patch yesterday. It was perfect timing . . . the weather was warm & gorgeous. Plus Rich and I needed to focus on sanding and painting the baby's crib (which is hard to do when Charlie wants to "help".)

Thank God they had a train. Because there's nothing more my kid loves than a train.

This one cracks me up.

And these shots . . . these shots will be pulled out in about 10 - 12 years to embarrass Charlie and Gigi.

Thanks, Katie, for taking him along and for taking such great photos!

Halloween costumes in review

Age 10 months, bumble bee

This is one of my favorite photos of all time. Kayle was seriously pissed about the hair pulling. I was NOT a sexy LadyBug but my sister in law, Misty was.

Charlie's Halloween Carnival

Charlie's Halloween Carnival

school carnival

Last night was Charlie's school Halloween carnival. This is a milestone for our family. The first real school event.

He went dressed as Buzz Lightyear. And if I say so myself, the cutest Buzz Lightyear I've ever seen. He gets this secret smile on his face as soon as the costume is on. He knows he's cute and he seems to like dressing up.

This little kitty kept waving and saying "It's Buzz! It's Buzz!"

There was a musical number at the beginning. Little 2 - 5 year olds falling and crying and dancing on stage.

Then a train ride. Holy crap a train! It's all he wanted to do. So it's what he did at the carnival. Besides playing with Gigi (dressed as Jessie from Toy Story, what a pair!).

After a long night (a whole hour), Daddy brought him home, dragging his inflatable jet pack behind.

Michigan Fall Fun

Every fall, Aunt Janet & Uncle Dave ship Charlie real, authentic Michigan pumpkins and Indian corn to Charlie so he can experience a smidgen of Michigan fall.

This year the box arrived and Charlie tore into it like a crazy man. Meaning the corn ended up all over my living room floor.

Charlie was excited, I felt a little less homesick for the change of seasons and we had plenty of vacuuming to do.

the weekend

This weekend kicked off with me staying home, off my feet, all day Friday because I was in some weird sort of pain. It's all better now, no worries. Just a baby doing somersaults in my belly.

Saturday Charlie attended one of those "build something out of wood" clinics at Lowe's. This particular  clinic was to build a truck out of wood.

This is how our truck ended up:

I wish I would've taken a photo of the Morad family truck. It was perfect, with the light on top and all the right stickers in the right places. Ours . . . not so much. But hey, the wheels turn so we're good.

Saturday night was our friend, Anne Thiel's, wedding. It was nice to get out and about with adults.

I love this photo because there's just something about men, in suits, gathered around a bar bullshitting.

Today was my "sprinkle" (e.g. baby shower for a 2nd baby) thrown by my friend Katie. Thrown perfectly and creatively and thoughtfully by my friend Katie. Also, Charlie's Godmama (and my friend as well), Michelle Peters busted her rump to help pull this together. I couldn't be more grateful.

When I get a chance, I'll post a photo of the onesies that everyone created with scraps of fabric and a glue gun. So cute and unique.

All in all, a busy weekend. I'm now off my feet again, eyeing the clock and planning on a 9:00 bedtime. Because I'm a preggers rock star, people.

Friday, October 21, 2011

He's been singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star for about 10 minutes now. Into a plastic microphone. On total repeat. Welcome to our Friday nights.

But hey! Did you notice he's wearing pants? It's a miracle.

Or view the video here.

Charlie's big boy room

We want to make sure Charlie has something new and special as we're preparing for the baby.

One of those new & special things is a renovated bedroom. Below are some photos of his bedroom make-over (which is 90% done, still need to hang curtains, add artwork and a funky lamp.) To see how much it has changed, you can view Charlie's nursery, 3 years ago today.

A new twin size bed, comforter and throw blanket. We've had the Yo Gabba Gabba and the yellow pillows.

He likes his room. Everyone that walks through our door is shown "his special big boy bed" by the proud owner.

Rich's iPhone drop

Last month, when I posted a series of Rich's iPhone photos, my Flickr blew up. Which means you liked peeking at Rich's photos. Snoops. Here is a photo drop from Rich's phone from the past month.

And bug him to get a Facebook page.

Santa Barbara: day 2

Up early in the morning and driving along the SB coastline, headed for the zoo.

Santa Barbara October 2011

The Santa Barbara zoo is the perfect size for us. Charlie, being almost 3 with a short attention span and me, 30 weeks along and slow as a tortoise.

It's beautiful nonetheless.

Santa Barbara October 2011

The funny part is that Charlie's favorite part of the zoo had nothing to do with animals and everything to do with this big hill and cardboard slides.

Santa Barbara October 2011

Santa Barbara October 2011

When he ran to the top of the hill, he would do this little song & dance. As if he were on stage.

Santa Barbara October 2011

Next, a drive up to watch hang gliders launch off a hill overlooking Arroyo Beach. This is one of my favorite things to do in Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara October 2011

Santa Barbara October 2011

It feels like you're on top of the world . . .

what a view

. . . or close to nap time, if you're almost 3 years old.

Santa Barbara October 2011

Back to our lovely hotel where Charlie literally vegged on the bed, staring out the window.

Santa Barbara October 2011

I did the same thing.

Our night ended with a (mostly) quiet sunset dinner at the Four Seasons' restaurant. Overlooking the Pacific with a fire pit just feet away from our table. Charlie was a saint while we ate our dinner . . . he must've been happy with the trip overall.

Santa Barbara trip, October 2011

Actually, I know he was happy with the trip. Friday night, after we came in from our stroll around the harbor, he looked up at me and said "that was so fun, Mama".

Totally worth it.
