garlic balls

Macadamia encrusted sea bass. YUM! And giant butter soaked garlic bread. This is after my work cohorts and I sang the Brady Bunch theme song out loud last night at a fine dining establishment. Bob Chins and his garlic balls are much more appropriate for this motley crew. Is that bad?

"I wanna be sedated"

So Anna Nicole Smith was on 6 sedatives and 1 anti-anxiety med the day she died. 7 different pills just to get through the day. http://www.usmagazine.com/anna_nicole_smith_6

I'm so thankful I just need 1 Starbucks, 1 walk with my pup and 1 hug from my hubby.

angry about the war

I'm on a business trip. Otherwise good business trip. But I come back, log on and get an email from my new cousin Ashley (married to my old cousin Jason) with photos of their baby daughter. In Texas. Where she was visiting her family. Because our government is shipping her off on a f*cking boat for 6 months. She will miss the first birthday of her first child.
Why? Because we're at war. Why? Because he wanted to make a point. Point made. Pull the hell out of Iraq. Let these parents return to their children.

Easy Silence

Easy silence that you make for me
It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me
And the peaceful quiet you create for me
And the way you keep the world at bay for me
The way you keep the world at bay

I need something to believe in
Breathe in sanctuary in the

Easy silence that you make for me
It's okay when there's nothing more to say to me
And the peaceful quiet you create for me
And the way you keep the world at bay for me
The way you keep the world at bay

Celebrating Michelle

It's funny how a few martinis, glasses of wine, and enchiladas leads to skinny dipping on someone's birthday!

Happy Birthday, Michelle!

Being 30

Here's what I think so far (1 month, 15 days in) of being 30:
  • It feels right. Meaning ... I no longer feel guilty for buying Redbook magazine.
  • I can have a baby and not feel like it was too soon.
  • I deserve the $ I make. And deserve to make more. And feel confident enough to speak up about it.
  • My skin's in pretty good shape for 30. Considering I'm Irish with inconsistent use of sunscreen.
  • My life is still not half over.
  • I am where I thought I would be at 30: Happy.

The John & Crystal Visit

So I am so lucky that my friends trek way the hell out to L.A. to visit and help me celebrate milestones like the big 3-0. Crystal, who I met at my very first job out of college. Our friendship was fast and furious. I had known her maybe 3 days before we decided to ditch our previous living situations (mine, a crazy idiot chick named Tamara that I met online and hers, her folks house) and go apartment hunting. Day 1 we endured personal dramas, normal move in adjustments and a the start of an amazing friendship that has changed my life.

So enough mushy stuff. Crystal has finally met the best, the nicest man on the planet (yes, Rich, you're still my #1) and is going to marry him in December. (And start having babies, I hope!) She tortured poor John and schlepped him to L.A. in February to celebrate my 30th birthday.

I'm not a wild party animal so we did normal go to dinner, go to spa, go to wine bar, bbq at house stuff but that's what I craze. I overwork so this is like a 4 star vacation to me. I do like cooking in the kitchen and singing along to every word of Alabama's "Mountain Music" with those I love the most.

John is a newbie to L.A. so we took him to the hot spots. Below are the photos. Have a looksie.
